Substitute the unbearable pain of whatever is making you unhappy with two boxes of extra cheesy, crazy-filled toppings pizza. Stuff yourself. (I fully advocate gluttony when you’re just not in the mood to deal with everything – when you’re feeling like a Debbie Downer.) This is my shortcut today. Don’t even bother talking it out with someone. Just order the friggin’ pizza.
You are allowed these kinds of days every once in a while. You’re allowed to be sad. You’re allowed to keep to yourself. You’re allowed to just take a breather from life and forget the people that made you unhappy or the events that led to such a day. You’re allowed to just listen to sappy music all day and pretend that your life has a soundtrack. You’re allowed to – it just is what it is.
You can also keep calm and have a cupcake. That’s my next shortcut to making it through the day. Have a cupcake to forget the love you lost. Have a cupcake to add to your waistline so that the creepy guy on the metro stops staring at you on the way back home from work. Have a cupcake for every friend you miss. Have a cupcake for every comforter your dry cleaner’s store lost during delivery. Have extra frosting for that nail you just broke. Actually, just have yourself a batch of cupcakes and be done with it.
And if you wake up in the morning and feel that what just happened to you doesn’t seem real… it’s probably because nothing is real. It’s all what you believe – or something you dream inside your head. (Thank you, Goo Goo Dolls – for understanding.) And if the dreams you concoct in your head are as crazy as they seem, again… nothing is real. That person in your dream probably wasn’t even thinking about you and yet… here you are writing about him/her. NOT COOL.
Remember: you’re allowed to have more than one slice of pizza and more than one cupcake. You’re allowed to drown yourself in sappy music. It’s healthy. People around you should understand because the world you paint is not always peachy or rosy; sometimes, somebody messes up your painting and it’s beyond your control. It’s beyond your fixing. So just look for your shortcuts to make it through the day – take the shortcut today and hope that tomorrow that shortcut isn’t necessary to take. But save yourself a slice or two of pizza and a couple of cupcakes just in case.
